This website is just a small and personal look at some practical things to make your integration into the Danish society a little bit easier.
Before you come to Denmark
Some people like myself doesn’t take the time to plan too much ahead or don’t know where to look for answers or even what to ask for before they arrive at their destination, and while this is sure to give you a lot of adventures, I’ve listed some practical things that might be good for you to know in advance:
- Pack for cold climate
- Summer is June-August (and they might be wet)
- You’ll need to get a Yellow-Card (CPR-number) at the municipality, when you are staying for a longer period to use the public services
- Public transport is widely used both in cities/towns and from one end of the country to the other
- While the train is good for some routes, you can save a lot of money riding the intercity busses (like Flixbus) when you need to get from/to Copenhagen.
What I didn’t write on the list were things like high taxes, alcohol laws and stuff like that, since that is something you can read anywhere, when googling “how is Denmark like“.
